An Evening to Remember

The Robin Thomas-Morning Family Scholarship Foundation’s 1st Annual White Tie Gala was truly An Evening to Remember. Held in a beautifully adorned venue, the evening radiated elegance, inspiration, and heartfelt purpose as it marked the official launch of the foundation’s mission to uplift youth in Union and Anson Counties through scholarships and meaningful support.

Guests were welcomed with a stunning red-carpet entrance, where the Board of Directors—gracefully dressed in the foundation’s colors of white, blue, and gold—made their entrance with dignity and pride. Founder and President Robin Thomas-Morning followed with a powerful and heartfelt welcome, setting the tone for a night filled with vision, unity, and unwavering faith.

Board Member Mrs. Linda Parker offered warm greetings, followed by a sincere and spirit-led prayer from Pastor Danny Williamson Sr., grounding the evening in the foundation’s spiritual roots.

Guiding the program with elegance and grace was Mistress of Ceremony Ms. Kashona Cason, whose warm presence and polished professionalism ensured a seamless flow throughout the evening.

Board Member Tyrone Morning gave touching remarks, honoring his wife, Robin Thomas-Morning, for her courageous step of faith in establishing the foundation. Mrs. Sechiquita Ratliff Jones followed with inspiring reflections on community strength, faith, and perseverance.

Mr. Paulus Ford, President of the Bowman High School Class of 1982, delivered heartfelt remarks expressing how proud he was of Robin Thomas-Morning for creating the foundation. His words served as a powerful affirmation of her vision and the lasting impact it will have on future generations.

The evening continued with additional speakers offering words of encouragement and unity that reflected the gala’s mission and spirit.

Established in loving memory of Mr. Wayne Thomas, the Foundation is rooted in faith, family, and a commitment to educational equity. A moving candle-lighting ceremony, led by Robin Thomas-Morning, honored his legacy and lasting influence on those he loved and inspired.

Highlight of the Night: Scholarship Presentation

The highlight of the evening was the Scholarship Presentation for the Class of 2025. Led by Robin Thomas-Morning and the RTM Board of Directors, the Foundation proudly awarded scholarships to two outstanding students—one from Union County and one from Anson County—marking them as the inaugural recipients of the Robin Thomas-Morning Family Scholarship.

The moment was made even more special by Miss Kiney Leigh Barber, the 2024 Scholarship recipient, who delivered heartfelt remarks that deeply moved the audience. Her poise, gratitude, and eloquence were a powerful reminder of the purpose behind the foundation's work.

Performances and Special Moments

The evening also featured memorable performances that stirred the hearts of all in attendance:

- A moving praise dance by Komoria Elise Chambers that embodied grace and worship.

- Musical performances by The Ross Sisters and Iesha Thomas, which filled the atmosphere with joyful praise.

- A surprise presentation from toddlers under age 5—lovingly called the “Next Generation of Scholars”—who brought smiles and inspiration to the room.

A Humble Word of Encouragement

The keynote speaker, Mrs. Rhonda Benton, a respected school counselor, expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful event. Her remarks were heartfelt and genuine, reflecting the shared desire to see young people succeed and be supported in their educational journeys.
